An unequal-hours sundial in memory of Scientist Margaret Stanier, late fellow of Newnham College, Cambridge. V-cut and gilded Welsh slate. Calculations by diallist Frank King. King also designed the gnomon, which was then made by Teversham Engineering.

Flood gilding in progress. As slate is impervious, it does not need to be sealed before laying the gold size. The size is applied over the edge of the v-cut. About a week after the gilding, the surface is rubbed with wet-and-dry paper and the gold only remains in the cut areas.
